It's thriftier to use StrongWare with your PC and your Microsoft, Lotus, or Corel Software/Commercial-Off-The-Shelf, "SCOTS", that you already know how to use,
than it is to spend a lot of time learning a whole new system.
StrongForms are basically templates that are designed for you to use with your SCOTS word processing, databases, and spreadsheet software, fitting together hand in glove.
- You can customize, redesign, and tailor StrongForms to suit your personal desires.
- As your SCOTS is updated, so is your StrongWare (see "UpGrade!" below).
- StrongForms are compatible among SCOTS; you can share among workgroups.
- You are freed from learning and using unique software that does not quite fit your needs
and / or is based on secret code that you cannot tailor to fit your needs.
... and it's so inexpensive you can hardly afford to miss it!
This page begins with general information about the StrongWare system and then lists brief descriptions of the subsystems.
You ask: So, what makes StrongWare so strong and smart and safe, yet simple?
Rich says: My top objective is to provide you with means to describe
your information so that you can effectively and efficiently plan your
work and work your plan. You can strengthen your decision-making to make
'strong decisions' by systematically considering the alternatives,
problems, and hazards involved using built-in calculations, rather than
relying on weak, simplistic, success-oriented methods that can lead to
unrealistic planning, errors, omissions, oversights, and unplanned losses.
Your StrongWare StrongForms provide for integrating database and spreadsheet
and word processor information so you can consider your planning and
decisions from both detail and system aspects.

StrongWare for Spreadsheets. If you do not use databases at all, you can use the Spreadsheet Package.
StrongWare for Word Processors. If you've been reluctant to use your database SCOTS, then you'll
discover that your StrongWare is an easy introduction to begin using it. If you do not like to use databases, then you can use the word-processing text versions (MS Word, WordPerfect, Ami Pro, Word Pro) of StrongWare StrongForms by using pages of text as database records.
You can download the *Download Demos or 15 ASCII StrongForms * ASCII(28 kb)
Likewise, if you do not use spreadsheets and do know how to use word processor tables, then you can create tables for spreadsheets, as shown in the examples in * Table If you use StrongForms with tables for calculations, then you can use separate files as database records.
Upgrading your current database. If you already use databases that are similar to one of the StrongWare
databases and you want to retain the data, then you can consider:
1. merging your existing database into your StrongWare database by
modifying your StrongWare database tables and forms to accomodate your database; or
2. merging your StrongWare database into your existing database tables
and forms by modifying your existing database with StrongForm fields.
You can merge by either adding or inserting or deleting or modifying
fields. You can work with restructuring/ modifying/ your tables either in
the database or with a spreadsheet. You can then re-design your forms as
desired.
If you prefer to have us, Safety Analysis Systems Co., do the merging,
then tell us your desires and we'll do it for you.
1. SCOTS StrongForm Tailoring: Since StrongForms are
designed for using with your SCOTS, you can customize and tailor them to
suit your personal needs and desires. You can log your changes in the 1SSLOG spreadsheet that lists all 200+ StrongForms (available in the Demo Download). You are spared the onerous situation
of having software that does not quite fit your needs and/or is based on
code that you cannot change. As your SCOTS is updated, so is your StrongWare.
You'll find the Strongware System uses only the simplest features of
your SCOTS. If you have a basic understanding of using your SCOTS, then
you'll have no trouble using your Strongware.
2. Compatibility for Sharing: Strongware provides the same database and spreadsheet StrongForms for all of the supported SCOTS, so you can share your data and layouts among your workgroup partners. Any data that you create in any of the SCOTS may be viewed in the same format in any of the other supported SCOTS. If you want to share your data with a partner who uses a different SCOTS and who also uses StrongWare, then you can export your database table (or parts thereof from a findset, answer.db or dynaset) directly or as a .dbf file. Your partner can then add, append, or import your data and see it in the same screens and report it with the same reports.
3. Data and System: You can think of individual actions as objects, record them in database records, then relate them to your spreadsheet cell objects, via pre-formatted, comma-delimitted textfile reports, "Translators", that you can then import to your spreadsheets for Modelling and Planning and Budget and Tax. You are then assured that your data is the same in both forms and that no errors were made in re-entering data.
You can record Details in Database records, see your
System in Spreadsheet models.

You can transfer your spreadsheet data by using the |File, then |Save As functions of your SCOTS to export the spreadsheet so that the data can be imported into other SCOTS.
As with database files, you can attach spreadsheet files to E-Mail messages.
4. Simple common features: Some common features of StrongWare are:
a. Printing. Form and report and spreadsheet StrongForms are
designed with 0.5 inch margins. You can use 9- or 24-pin or inkjet or laser with letter
or legal paper, with tractor or sheet feeds.
Wide carriage is nice for printing large spreadsheet models in portrait or
landscape.
( Note: If you don't have a wide color printer, then we'll be pleased to
print your large spreasheets for you at cost. )
b. Filenames. All filenames are consistent across all brands
of SCOTS:
(1.) All database files are named according to their function;
(2.) All screen and print StrongForms are named the same as the
database/ table, except FoxPro;
(3.) All columnar reports names end in '..Log', such as
HazLog, PrsLog, ALIVELog;
(4.) All database files used for translating to spreadsheets have
filenames ending with 'SS', such as PrsSS;
(5.) All label report filenames end in '..LBL'; and
(6.) All reports for queries have a "Q" prefix.
All databases are keyed or indexed to the [???RECNBR], "???RecId:",
field for sorting, filtering, finding, and querying. Your StrongWare for Access includes queries and query forms and reports; StrongWare for Paradox includes queries.
(Note: StrongWare does not use SQL.) You can create record identifier 8-character mnemonics for locating files,
such as:
(a.) using characters #1 and #2 for identifying a database or spreadsheet model and a subset, such as;
(b.) characters 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 for date, using ymmdd format, or truncated lastname, such as STRON,
or for identifying what the record is about or sequence number or spreadsheet column-row;
(c.) character #8 alpha for strings of records in sequence, such as A, B, C, etc.
Most StrongForms have a 40-character "About" field you can use for finding and locating with plain English phrases.
c. Screens and Reports. All StrongForms are designed for VGA 16-color screens.
Most of the utility databases are designed for single screens.
Several screens include OLE fields so you can insert graphics or links to spreadsheets.
Most of the StrongWare reports are designed for printing on a single page.
If you use QUERIES in Access, then you'll like the query screens and reports that give you the same screen and report designs for your queries - you are not limitted to only the table views.
Note: The example templates shown on this webpage are the word processing text templates that you can *Download To view examples of screens, click on the hotlinks for *__ Screen.
If you want to record more data than the screens provide space for,
then you can use a word processor text file to contain the extra data.
Your StrongWare provides reports that you can use to print to file and
then open with your word processor so you can add as much as you want to,
for your WorkPlan, LaPS, and HazRep.
Organization: You can organize your data with the StrongWare system of intuitively and logically arranged databases, screens, reports and spreadsheet layouts.
